PowTechnology Return To Instrumentation Live!
Following the success of it’s inaugural year, Instrumentation Live returned to the National Conference Centre on 22 January.
As intelligent automation specialists for over 30 years, we were demonstrating how we harness data from sensors and machines to the cloud, using edge processing, AI and anomaly detection technologies to optimise asset reliability, performance and sustainability.
The stand was busy, as we met with a range of customers, collaborators and colleagues to show our latest ‘ready-to-go’ and bespoke innovations for smart manufacturing.
In line with trends we reported in 2024, these sensor suppliers are seeing a growing requirement from customers to make sensor data available in the cloud, as well as in local monitoring and control systems.
Reliable sensor data can promote safety, sustainability, sales and service. Sensors have long been used to monitor and improve processes. Getting that data online, allows it to be useful to multiple stakeholders, in multiple locations, for multiple purposes.
For example, monitoring kit locally, tells someone on site what is happening and allows them to react. Communicating data on level, pressure, temperature, vibration, hours run, power loss etc via the web, allows that same data to be used to manage or automate procurement, distribution, maintenance planning, production planning, resource planning and compliance reporting.
If customers are going to seek out ways to get their sensor data into the cloud anyway … surely it makes sense to offer that connectivity alongside the sensors.
It makes life easy for the customer and the data develops a valuable additional and ongoing revenue stream.
