PowTechnology have been proud to support the UK Government Kickstart Scheme, which offered six month placements to young people aged 16-24, helping them with their first step on a career ladder.
In 2021, PowTechnology offered placements in our workshop and finance office and we’re delighted to report that, a year later, Charles McGuigan and Ryan Bourne have become valued, permanent members of our team!
Charles, who came to us with a Masters Degree in History from The University of Kent, now has responsibilities for multiple sales and finance activities including customer quotes and credit control. Charles commented:
“PowTechnology is growing so fast! In just a year we’ve developed a range of new solutions, expanded into new application areas, gained new ISO accreditations and even launched a new subsidiary!! I’ve had great support in learning my new skills and been exposed to the technical as well as the administrative elements of the business. I’m really excited about progressing my career at PowTechnology.”
Local lad, Ryan, brought us experience in the distribution and rail industries and his role now encompasses a broad range of PowTechnology preparation, testing and assembly work. Over the year he has expanded his understanding of our IIoT solutions, working on more complex electronics and assisting on customer site visits. Ryan told us:
“I’ve learnt so much in a year, although it has passed very quickly! The work is extremely varied and there is always something new! I’m keen to progress with PowTechnology and understand the solutions we offer in more depth.”
Ian Bourke, PowTechnology Finance and Operations Manager, added:
“At the start of 2021, the business made a number of planned changes, using new investment, to target growth, through the development of new solutions. These two young men joined PowTechnology at this pivotal moment and have made the most of the opportunity. We are delighted to reward them with full-time, permanent positions and I look forward to seeing their careers progress.”
